"Health Programme "

The EU is required by its founding treaty to ensure that human health is protected as part of all its policies, and to work with the EU countries to improve public health, prevent human illness and eliminate sources of danger to physical and mental health. The 3rd Health Programme has 4 overarching objectives:

  1. Promote health, prevent diseases and foster supportive environments for healthy lifestyles taking into account the 'health in all policies' principle,
  2. Protect Union citizens from serious cross-border health threats,
  3. Contribute to innovative, efficient and sustainable health systems,
  4. Facilitate access to better and safer healthcare for Union citizens.

Description of call
"2019 call for membership to the existing European Reference Networks (ERNs)"
The 24 European Reference Networks (ERNs) are cross-border networks bringing together centres of expertise and reference centres of European hospitals to tackle rare or low prevalence and complex diseases and conditions that require highly specialised healthcare. ERNs enable specialists in Europe to share learnings and discuss complex patient cases, providing advice on the most appropriate diagnosis and the best treatment.

Applicant details
Each Healthcare Provider that is interested in joining an approved European Reference Network (ERN) must have a written statement from its Member State (MS) certifying that its application to join an existing European Reference Network is in accordance with the Member States national legislation.
