Description of programme
"European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights"

The European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) aims at providing support for the promotion of democracy and human rights in non-EU countries. The key objectives of the EIDHR are:

  • Enhancing respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms in countries and regions where they are most at risk
  • Strengthening the role of civil society in promoting human rights and democratic reform, in supporting the peaceful conciliation of group interests and in consolidating political participation and representation
  • Supporting actions in areas covered by EU Guidelines: dialogue on Human rights, human rights defenders, the death penalty, torture, children and armed conflicts and violence against women
  • Supporting and strengthening the international and regional framework for the protection of human rights, justice, the rule of law and the promotion of democracy
  • Building confidence in and enhancing the reliability and transparency of democratic electoral processes, in particular through monitoring electoral processes

The annual action programs define objectives, fields of action, expected results, methods and the amount of financing planned. In unforeseen, exceptional or particularly urgent cases exceptional measures may be taken.

"Country Based Support Scheme (CBSS) Turkey Programme"

The global objective of this call for proposals is to contribute, through supporting civil society organisations, to the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms and to contribute to the strengthening of the international framework for the promotion and protection of human rights, justice and the rule of law.

Applicant details

In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:

  • be civil society organisation and
  • be a legal person and
  • be non-profit-making and
  • be non-governmental organisation (see box below) and
  • be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.

Lot 1: The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 12 months nor exceed 36 months.

Lot 2: The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 18 months nor exceed 36 months.

Financial details

Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the following minimum and maximum amounts:

For both Lot 1 and Lot 2:

  • minimum amount: 60,000 €
  • maximum amount: 300,000 €.

 

Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the following minimum and maximum percentages of total eligible costs of the action:

  • Minimum percentage: 50% of the total eligible costs of the action.
  • Maximum percentage: 95% of the total eligible costs of the action.
