"Horizon 2020"
Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme with nearly 80 billion € of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020). Apart from classic research projects, Horizon 2020 also funds innovation projects and pilot-projects in different fields.
The programme is divided into three different sections:
  1. Excellent Science
  2. Industrial Leadership
  3. Societal Challenges

"Horizon Prizes"

Horizon Prizes are challenge prizes (also known as 'inducement' prizes) which offer a cash reward to whoever can most effectively meet a defined challenge. They act as an incentive for innovation. They prescribe the goal but not who the innovator should be or how the goal should be achieved.

Description of call
"EU Prize for Women Innovators"
This award scheme recognises the role of women in bringing about game-changing innovations to market honouring the outstanding achievements of women running innovative companies. The "EU Prize for Women Innovators" will be awarded to up to four women innovators who have created the largest impact on the innovation ecosystem by transforming ideas into new and advanced products and/or services for the benefit and wealth of the European citizens.

Eligible applicants Microenterprises (fewer than 10 employees), Start Up Company
Applicant details The contestant must be a woman. For the Rising Innovator Award, the contestant must be a woman aged 35 years or under. The contestant must be the founder or co-founder of an existing and active company which was registered before 1 January 2017.

Financial details Total budget: 350 000 €
There will be 3 prizes for 100 000 € each as well as one prize for 50 000 € in the "rising innovator" category
