Call: European Low-Cost Space Launch

Programme
Description of programme
"Horizon Prizes"

Horizon Prizes are challenge prizes (also known as 'inducement' prizes) which offer a cash reward to whoever can most effectively meet a defined challenge. They act as an incentive for innovation. They prescribe the goal but not who the innovator should be or how the goal should be achieved.

European Low-Cost Space Launch
Description of call
"European Low-Cost Space Launch"
Applicants for this Horizon Prize should develop a European solution for launching satellites into Low-Earth-Orbit that is technologically non-dependent. This could enable dedicated low-cost launches with committed schedule and orbit.
Proposals need to be innovative, implementable, commercially viable and affordable in development. Furthermore, a holistic approach is required that explores possibilities beyond existing solutions. The solution will support Europe's access to space and thereby offer advantages for European companies, SMEs, universities and research centres.
