Interreg Greece - Bulgaria 2014-2020 addresses challenges in five thematic objectives of Europe 2020:

  • Enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs
  • Promoting climate change adaptation, risk prevention and management
  • Preserving and protecting the environment and promoting resource efficiency
  • Promoting sustainable transport and removing bottlenecks in key network infrastructures
  • Promoting social inclusion and combating poverty and discrimination

"Interreg Greece-Bulgaria 2014-2020 second call"
The present call for proposals is open for the following Programme’s Priority Axes:

  • Priority Axis 2: A Sustainable and Climate adaptable Cross-Border area
    • Specific opjective: To valorize cross border area cultural and natural heritage for tourist purposes
    • Specific opjective: To enhance the effectiveness of biodiversity protection activities
    • Specific opjective: To enhance water management
  • Priority Axis 4: A Socially Inclusive Cross Border Area
    • Specific opjective: To improve access to primary and emergency health care (at isolated and deprived communities) in the cross border area
    • Specific opjective: To expand social entrepreneurship in the cross border area

Applicant details

Each applicant can participate as Lead beneficiary or as beneficiary in no more than one project proposal per Investment Priority. If an applicant does not conform to the previous rule as explicitly stated above, all of its project applications will be rejected. In particular for Tertiary Education and Research Institutions, the previous rule applies to each Department.

Project Partner Details

Project proposals must include at least one beneficiary from each country participating in this Programme. Beneficiaries shall cooperate in the development and implementation of operations. In addition, they shall cooperate in the staffing or the financing of operations, or in both. The total number of beneficiaries must not exceed ten (10), including the Lead beneficiary.

The starting date for eligible expenditure is 01.01.2014. The closing date of the eligibility period of the expenditure should be the end date of the subsidy contract in force. Under no circumstances the final date of eligibility of expenditure can exceed the 31st of December 2023.

Financial details The total budget available for the present call is 35 200 000 € (of which 29 920 000 € ERDF) and is indicatively allocated as follows:

Priority axis 2. A sustainable and climateadaptable cross-border area:
  • Budget 19 500 000 €
  • ERDF 16 575 000 €
  • National Co-financing 2 925 000 €
Priority axis 4. A socially inclusive crossborder area: 
  • Budget 15 700 000 €
  • ERDF 13 345 000 €
  • National Co-financing 2 355 000 €
