"Union Civil Protection Mechanism"

The Civil Protection Mechanism facilitates coordination in the field of civil protection in order to improve the effectiveness of systems for preventing, preparing for and responding to natural and man-made disasters. The Mechanism should protect primarily people, but also the environment and property, including cultural heritage.

The objective is to support and complement the efforts of Member States in the field of disaster prevention, focusing on areas where cooperation provides added value and complement existing cooperation frameworks/instruments provided by relevant EU macro - regional strategies.

Description of call
"Prevention projects in the field of civil protection and marine pollution"
Prevention refers to any action aimed at reducing risks or mitigating adverse consequences of disasters for people, the environment and property, including cultural heritage by preventing or reducing their potential effects. Priorities:
1. Projects promoting the linkages between multi - hazard assessments of risks, including from climate change, risk management capabilities assessments with risk management, preparedness and response planning.
2. Projects supporting the development of disaster risk reduction strategies, taking into account climate change adaptation.
3. Projects supporting risk awareness and risk communication with a focus on boarder regions, cross border and regional dimensions.
