These systems will need to produce more food, fibre and other bio-based products with minimised inputs, environmental impact and greenhouse gas emissions, and with enhanced ecosystem services, zero waste and adequate societal value. |

Description of call "Sustainable solutions for bio-based plastics on land and sea" | In order to decrease the amount of greenhouse gas emission, environmental pollution and marine litter, plastic production needs to be disconnected from fossil feedstock and recycling systems need to be optimised. Activities shall focus on sustainability strategies and solutions for bio-based products. They shall include innovative product design and business models facilitating efficient reuse and recycling strategies and solutions, including ensuring the safety of recycled materials when used for toys or the packaging of food. They shall address the technical and economic barriers to bio-based plastics recycling in regard to established and/or alternative recycling options. |
