"Horizon 2020"
Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme with nearly 80 billion € of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020). Apart from classic research projects, Horizon 2020 also funds innovation projects and pilot-projects in different fields.
The programme is divided into three different sections:
  1. Excellent Science
  2. Industrial Leadership
  3. Societal Challenges
Countries eligible for funding are: The EU-Member States, Iceland, Norway, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey, Moldova, Switzerland, Ukraine, Faroe Islands, Israel, Tunisia, Georgia, Armenia.

"Horizon Prizes"

Horizon Prizes are challenge prizes (also known as 'inducement' prizes) which offer a cash reward to whoever can most effectively meet a defined challenge. They act as an incentive for innovation. They prescribe the goal but not who the innovator should be or how the goal should be achieved.

"Women Innovators 2018"

Europe urgently needs more innovators to stay competitive in the coming decades and to spur economic growth. The EC wants to highlight the outstanding achievements of women innovators who have (co-) founded a successful company and brought an innovation to market and benefitted from Research and Innovation funding from the public or private sector.

The Commission will award up to three "EU Prize for Women Innovators" and one "Rising Innovator Award" following a European-wide contest. Applicants should be female innovators, aged 30 years or under.

Eligible applicants Microenterprises (fewer than 10 employees), Start Up Company
Applicant details The participant must be the founder or co-founder of an existing and active company which was registered before 1 January 2016.
The annual turnover of the company was at least 100,000 € in 2015 or 2016 (50,000 € for the category Rising Innovator).
Either the participant as a natural person or the company founded/co-founded by the candidate have received or is receiving European or national funding for Research and Innovation or bank funding or alternative sources of financing such as private equity, venture capital, crowd funding through platforms or business angels.

Financial details The first prize is 100.000 €, the second prize 50.000 €, the third prize 30.000 € and the Rising Innovator prize is  20.000 €.
