Description of programme
"Interreg Mediterranean"

The main objective of Interreg Mediterranean is to promote sustainable growth in the Mediterranean area by fostering innovative concepts and practices, by a reasonable use of resources and by supporting social integration through an integrated and territorially based cooperation approach. The transnational setup enables the Programme to tackle challenges beyond national borders, such as the rise of low carbon economy, the protection of natural and cultural resources and the strengthening of innovation. In order to achieve these objectives, the Programme is divided into the following Priority Axes (PA):

  • PA1 - Promoting Mediterranean innovation capacities to develop smart and sustainable growth
  • PA2 - Fostering low-carbon strategies and energy efficiency in specific MED territories: cities, islands and rural areas
  • PA3 - Protecting and promoting Mediterranean natural and cultural resources
  • PA4 - Enhancing Mediterranean Governance
