Description of programme
"Rural Development Åland"
This Rural Development Programme aims to support the competitiveness and structure of the agricultural sector of Åland. Specifically, the Programme focuses on young farmers, training and on ensuring an efficient use of natural resources as well as climate-friendly farming practices. Therefore the Programme addresses the following key challenges:
  • Knowledge transfer and innovation
  • Competitiveness of the agricultural sector and sustainable forestry
  • Promoting food chain organisation, including processing and marketing of agricultural products, animal welfare and risk management in agriculture
  • Restoring, preserving and enhancing ecosystems related to agriculture and forestry
  • Promoting social inclusion, poverty reduction and economic development in rural areas
