The programme supports early-stage innovators in transforming science-based ideas into viable start-ups through training, mentoring, and a structured entrepreneurial journey that culminates in an international pitch competition. EIT Jumpstarter offers a 7-month pre-acceleration programme for early-stage innovators from over 28 countries and territories. Participants can compete for a first prize of up to €10,000 across 7 categories.
Call objectives
Participants will develop their ideas within one of six thematic cohorts aligned with Europe’s key innovation priorities:
- Food & Agritech (EIT Food): Optimising resource efficiency and sustainability in agriculture, food production, and supply chains. Key areas: nutritionally customised food, digital traceability, food safety, and authenticity.
- Healthcare (EIT Health): New models to deliver healthcare; Facilitating the uptake of digital medical devices in Europe; Harnessing the full potential of health data for innovation.
- Energy & Renewables (InnoEnergy): Energy cost reduction, system performance improvement, and lowering GHG emissions. Key areas: circular economy in energy, green hydrogen, energy management, and storage solutions.
- Advanced & Green Manufacturing (EIT Manufacturing): Flexible Production Systems for Competitive Manufacturing, Low Environmental Footprint Systems and Circular Economy for Green Manufacturing, Digital and Collaborative Solutions for Innovative Manufacturing Ecosystems, and Human–Machine Co-working for Socially Sustainable Manufacturing.
- Metals, Minerals, Advanced Materials & Industrial Side Streams (EIT RawMaterials): Innovative technologies to improve mineral exploration, mining, and materials processing through digital solutions and smart targeting. Key areas: Circular economy practices, recycling, and sustainable material design, reduce emissions, or promote transparency across value chains.
- Smart Cities & Urban Mobility (EIT Urban Mobility): The main focus areas are active mobility, sustainable city logistics, future mobility, mobility and energy, and public realm.
- A special cohort dedicated to entrepreneurial talent from Malta, powered by EIT Community and Xjenza Malta, will also be featured in this year’s edition: All solutions addressing the challenges described above in dedicated thematic cohorts powered by EIT KICs, or within the scope of the activities of 28Digital, Climate-KIC, EIT Culture & Creativity and EIT Water. EIT Jumpstarter primarily targets innovators from countries participating in the EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (EIT RIS), while also providing dedicated recognition for innovators from the EU Outermost Regions, the Western Balkans and Ukraine.
Since its launch, the programme has trained more than 1 500 innovators, supported the creation of over 150 startups, generated more than 2 600 jobs, and helped young companies attract over €150 million in investment, demonstrating its growing impact in strengthening Europe’s early-stage innovation ecosystem.
Applicants (at least 1 participating team member) must hold citizenship from one of the following countries or regions:

EU Member States: Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia and Spain.

EU Outermost Regions: Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Réunion, Martinique, Mayotte and Saint-Martin (France); the Azores and Madeira (Portugal); and the Canary Islands (Spain).

Horizon Europe Associated Countries and Territories: Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, *Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Ukraine and Türkiye.

other eligibility criteria
Participants have the opportunity to compete for over €240 000 in financial support, including prizes of €10 000, €5 000 and €3 000 for the top teams in each thematic cohort. In addition, special prizes of €2 500 will recognise the best projects from the EU Outermost Regions, the Western Balkans and Ukraine, as well as solutions aligned with the New European Bauhaus initiative. Beyond financial support, participants receive more than 55 hours of entrepreneurial training, expert mentoring, professional pitch development and access to the EIT’s pan-European innovation network.
